I wouldn’t want to be elected either if my parliament looked like that. Compare with the Chamber of Deputies in Italy:

  1. The Italian parliament is nice but for my taste it’s a bit dark and claustrophobic

  2. They should also have a golden throne when ruling over us peasants

  3. ![gif](giphy|eeYCKm1UriwMAKe11Q|downsized)

It’s also the culture of hearing session which breaks down to utter showdown…! Ain’t nobody got time for eurobonds when we are maxing out daddy germanys credit line…

  4. In all fairness, our people are able to trample over their heads.

(The area above the plenary chamber is open to the public so we can look down on them)

  5. Virgin protestant (and bombed) architecture vs chad latin and catholic monument.

  6. I honestly like the concept of the Reichstag. It looks massive from outside. The concept that the german people are able to watch their govs through the Glas cieling is pretty nice as well. Some could argue bout the choice of desks and chairs. But Overall.

  7. The German one looks more professional and modern, but the Italian one farms Aura in huge quantities as if it were nothing.

  8. Italian politics takes place in a 19th century theater checks out

  9. dunno, really. the italian one looks nice but also like stuck in a pit, not exactly an inviting place.

but yeah, the Bundestag is still peak 90ies design and it did not age too well

  10. I like the fact that Hans needed blue chairs to calm himself down.

  11. I would rather sit at the Bundestag tbh. Looks more professional, than a restaurant and a theater combined

  12. But does yours have the glorious imperial duck? I didn’t think so, big Italian L.

  13. The Italian one looks dark, does that because dark things happens there?

Besides the fat chicken, it’s a bright place in Germany

  14. Is that the reason Italy has elections and a new prime minister every 5 minutes? So that everybody gets some time in parliament?

  15. this is what happens to your Chamber when you mess around Europe with your army

  16. A few years into the dictatorship mister baldman trying to muster catholic support for the regime reinstated the Papal State as the Vatican City and gave millions to the Holy See as compensation for the capture of Rome of September 1870. Very patriotic.

The Pope praised Mussolini as “a man of Providence” while swiftly reinvesting all the money he had gained from Italy to the US stock market exponentially growing the Vatican’s wealth reserves after WW2 was over. To this day as stipulations we still pay the Vatican annual fees to use some of their former buildings in Rome, including the one that hosts the Parliament.

That’s why my favourite monument in Rome is not the Coliseum nor the Forum, it’s Giordano Bruno’s statue in Campo dei Fiori (the same square on which he was burnt alive in 1600 by the Church) which stares at Saint Peter’s dome in judgement from afar.

  17. Italian parliament really represents well the dramatic and machiavelic political elite they’ve got

  18. This venue looks good for the next papal conclave

  19. The german one looks like someone burnt it down or something, at some point..

  20. Typical Italians. Spend all this time and effort designing a parliament that no one shows up to anyway.

  21. Legitimately looks like “the good” and “the evil” factions in how they’d be portrayed in some swanky sci fi game. I’ll let you decide who’s which.

  22. I’ve never been to out parliament, but the Bundestag was very interesting to visit

  23. Both designs represent their respective country. One looks nice but is a complete disaster, the other looks basic but actually has a functioning economy.

  24. Doesn’t the Italian parliament have some blowjob booths Berlusconi built?

  25. Wow i love the architecture of the Chamber of Deputies, this is amazing. Why have i never seen this before!
