I don’t hate this, they can’t knock it down but equally it would be wrong to not let them build anything, otherwise London would never change. Seems like a decent way of dealing with it.
That’s a tourist attraction in 10 years if I’ve ever seen one.
A couple of nice ’50s buildings bookending a fairly ugly ’70s/’80s marble slab replaced by a completely forgettable plate glass architectural meh…
Take a step forward on Streetview and you’ll see it all magically disappear.
There’s a place at the end of Leadenhall street with parts of an old building inside.
I like that tower. As long as I’m still able to visit it/see it (i.e. it’s accessible to the public) I don’t really have an issue with this.
CEOs def putting his office there.
Pretty handy if there’s a surprise Viking invasion
Title is wrong like the others say but its a reasonable assumption to make considering the area around it is dug out.
It’s all dug out around it because although the keep will be in an open public square, beneath it all around it will be underground/basement space for the new buildings going up. So the entire bit of the land is being used up but it’ll be used underground leaving the surface level being an open public space. The bit around/under the keep is actually separate to the offices going up, it’s the location for the clothworkers city of london livary company.
Along with the render someone else has shown you can see the actual floor plans here.
https://i.imgur.com/gsievjm.png – Basement level 3. Big new clothworkers hall space with a massive skylight next to the keep.
https://i.imgur.com/ULZEMjw.png – Basement level 1. Including mainly for people who like seeing how insane the cycling facilities any new London office tower has these days. The full floor is for bikes and theres probably almost 1,000 spaces and 100+ showers across this and the other basement level. This is pretty standard with any new large zone 1 London office built in the past 10 years. I think 20 Fenchurch has 1,800 bike spaces in it’s basement. Some have ramps down from street level. This type of stuff which is why you see some massive companies say they’re struggling to find office space despite lots being empty. They want office buildings like this, massive bike parking, rooftop gardens for staff, super high energy efficiency, very bright open spaces, big open secure fancy lobbies etc.

That’s a new approach for the disciplinary process. Final warning and a PIP or the rack and a hot spike up the delivery entrance? You choose.
This is awful.

It’s not a keep.
It what remains of All Hallows Staining.

EDIT – This is what’s been demolished, so, it’s not too bad.

As is only proper
Ha, I used to work in the Minster building on the right there
It’s dwarfed by the tower!!
You work at AIG? I used to have that exact view!
I was in Athens the other day and they just had a random old church like half in a new high rise…
I think it’s great to incorporate old stuff but this was really badly done.
Really glad the architects chose to keep that feature
Where will the drawbridge intersect with the moat ?
Very cool
Can’t they do that for the Minster Building too?
Glad they are still protecting the parts of the past
Isn’t the architecture of London simply top class!
