I hope to see a lot more of these posts, especially when we get the eden project soon. It’s a lovely neck o t’woods (heavily biased of course).
Impressive to get the whole of station in one picture without any part of KFC showing 🙂 shame about the clouds but still some fantastic shots. Nice to see the cafe near the clock tower open again unlike the one near the battery which is empty. Shame too they saved me from dehydration last year!
Looks gorgeous. I so wish some proper thought could be put into revitalising UK seaside towns in a way that wouldn’t outprice the locals. Such amazing locations and architecture.
Ahhh Morecombe. Twinned with the French town of Wise I believe! 🤔
I live across the bay from Morecambe. My late sister in law and her husband lived at Hest Bank. I haven’t been to Morecambe properly since my grown up children were young enough to enjoy Happy Mount Park and Frontierland
How much dogshit did you step in. I spent a week there once and I’ve never so much dogshit as I did there. Grim place.
I was working in Lancaster , so decided to stay at the Premiere in Morecambe. It was a bit cheaper and I thought chips by the sea after work would be nice.
I was wrong ,van got broken into and I was nearly mugged.
It so bleak and barren, there’s a kind of haunting beauty to it
Always been amazed by the size of the beach, and scared that the tide would catch me off guard
You missed Eric’s statue
And of course, the common cormorant, or shag……
Hope you went to the Old Pier Bookshop!
Fun fact. The building in the first picture is the original railway station.
They moved it further back to a bus shelter type deal. Thankfully the original building remains!
Did you have a day out in wise too?
That promenade is fantastic for walking/skating/cycling on. Even Brighton’s can’t match it
Nice shags
We used to have our family holidays in Morecambe in the 50s at Mrs Sharpe’s boarding house.
I went back some 65 years later and stayed at the Midland Hotel. It was different!
I’ve got family I’m Morecambe, a lot of memories up and down that sea front. I really hope the Eden Project gives the area a boost. Mr Bobby Land sure didn’t.
