This Pope is a real fuck you to Trump and a power play by the Vatican. Catholicism is dwindling in the States, it’s overrun by WASP Evangelists. Americans will feel reflected glory and claim the American born Pope as theirs, they’ll listen to him, they’ll agree with him. But he also lived in Peru for decades and is fluent in Spanish for all those Mexican immigrants Trump hates; he’ll have a voice that speaks to so many more people than Trump can. He was handpicked by the last Pope, who was the most liberal to date and the new guy is said to be even more progressive. To the Americans, he will look like a beacon of sense – not orange and deranged, posting AI pictures of himself. Also, Melania is Catholic and if the new Pope can sway her, he’ll have influence on Trump indirectly.
