Signora Volpe, the “thoroughly enjoyable” mystery series starring Emilia Fox, is now available to watch for free.
The series, which originally aired on Acorn TV, sees the actor play Sylvia Fox, a former British spy who attempts to settle down to a more relaxed life in Italy. Soon, however, she finds herself becoming a detective of sorts as she solves several local crimes.
Following the airing of its first two seasons in 2022 and 2024 respectively, Signora Volpe has now found a new home in the UK, with all nine episodes of the series now available to be streamed on U Player.
“A disillusioned British spy-turned-detective starts a new life in the beautiful heart of Italy, but soon finds out trouble follows her wherever she goes,” reads the logline for the series, which is written and created by the duo of Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths.
The second season, which consists of six episodes, sees Sylvia fall for Capitano Riva (Giovanni Cirfiera) as she reconnects with estranged family members, all while battling an “old foe” who threatens her peaceful existence.

Signora Volpe has received generally positive reviews from critics, with Decider writing of the second season: “We wish the mysteries in Signora Volpe were stronger, but Emilia Fox is so charming and the scenery is so spectacular, we almost don’t mind.”
Viewers at home were similarly full of praise, with one fan (via IMDb) describing it as a “thoroughly enjoyable” mystery series that featured a “terrific” central performance from Fox, adding that Tara Fitzgerald was “perfectly” cast as her on-screen sister.

Another viewer also praised Fox’s performance as they described the actor as a “joy to watch” amid the “beautiful scenery” and “interesting stories”, with the fan also lauding the “laid back” tone.
“No blood & guts. No sad, dark heroes or heroines. Just good characters, multiple mysteries, comic relief and hints of romance! And, a strong feminine lead, family and Italy! I’m hoping for lots more episodes and seasons. Pleeeeeeze??” wrote another fan.
Signora Volpe is streaming on U Player.
