We literally were making this joke in 2016 after Brexit.
USA saying “Hold my beer”
Wow, really pushing the boundaries of political commentary here.
One of the best jokes to come from brexit is that one of the main driving forces to stop immigration and it just seems to not have done that at all, possibly making the problem worse lol
No. Voting for Trump is way worse, they knew exactly what they were getting
Absolutely.
How blind and easily fooled the majority were here with the whole Brexit fiasco.
As if such a large decision being made into a catchy little twitter slogan wasn’t proof enough of what a bad decision it would be.
I mean, you right, but atleast Brexit was only one absolutely devastating event and not several over and over before admitting we may have ballsed up
Wait few years. Reform UK will put to shame 2nd term of orange twat
Both sponsored by Russia.
The same people orchestrated both
yeah
It’s similar. But they really do have guns that can literally shoot themselves in the foot. Or worse :/
If you reversed Brexit tomorrow the benefits of being in the EU begin coming back to the UK in relatively short order.
You can’t reverse what Trump and DOGE has done. And they’re both just getting started.
One is arresting and deporting their own people for disagreeing with them, descending into a fascist police state, the other is a stupid economic decision, they are not the same.
Yeah but doing it twice…
See also “German election 1933” and “Turkeys and Christmas”.
Yeah, bit these wallopers voted for Trump **twice!**
We wouldn’t be stupid enough to vote for Brexit twice, would we..?
Would we..??
similarities between the two
-both campaigns were on a platform of racism and made-up numbers
-both fucked up their respective economies
-neither seems to learn for their mistakes (trump’s re-election, reform’s surge in popularity)
Maybe the first time. Re-electing him though? Way worse.
At least voting for Trump was only 4 years of shitshow.
No the equivalent would be the UK voting for Brexit, leaving and experiencing all the bullshit, rejoining the EU, then voting again to leave, and go through all the shit again.
And for much the same reasons. Isn’t THAT a funny coincidence? 🤨
The first Trump term, maybe. But voting for him a second time it’s like having voted for Brexit, having SEEN the clusterfuck it caused and the economic damage, and saying “you know what? We want more of this”
Nah, we got a shit economy, the US got fascism. It’s in no way comparable, fascism is vastly worse
Well….yeah. Have you only just noticed this? And do you honestly think that Brexit and Trump happened in the same year by coincidence? The fact that it’s happened again is also extremely suspicious, but that’s another conversation.
Nah this is wrong. Brexit was a referendum and a sign that democracy in the UK, while flawed and corrupted with Cambridge analytica data science and lobbying money, is alive and well.
Voting for Trump was a vote for Project 2025 which is a playbook on how to centralise power within the executive branch. This is how the Nazi party seized power also. It was a vote for dictatorship and to chart a course completely away the country’s constitution and founding principles.
Brexit was bad for our country. But nowhere near as bad for our democracy, culture and way of life.
Accurate, and the same people are going to elect the most openly grifting person in politics – Farage.
