The famous European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) held a concert in Moldova for the first time, on the occasion of Europe Day. “Culture is the common language of European values, and such events strengthen our ties with the European family,” said Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan, who was present at the concert, IPN reports.
Quoted in a press release of the Ministry of Culture, Sergiu Prodan stressed that young musicians from Moldova are perfectly integrated into this orchestra, which brings together talents from all over Europe.
Deputy chairwoman of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies Raluca Turcan underlined that, under the baton of conductor Jakub Przybycień, young musicians from all over Europe offered the audience a message of hope and solidarity, through the sounds of Enescu, Beethoven and Bartók.
Raluca Turcan noted that the presence of the European orchestra in Moldova is a clear proof of the fact that the country’s place is in the European Union. “Romania will always be Moldova’s strongest advocate on this path. We share the same language, the same values, the same democratic aspirations,” reads the message of the deputy chairwoman of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, published on Facebook.
The event brought together more than 60 young musicians from all over Europe and was held at Mimi Castle in Bulboaca to mark the 2nd anniversary of the European Summit that took place in this location on June 1, 2023.
Recognized as a Cultural Ambassador of the European Union, the EUYO has been bringing together the most talented musicians from the 27 member states of the Union for almost five decades. Young artists are selected annually from at least 3,000 candidates, providing a vivid image of the motto “United in diversity”.
