You know we gave Canada their independence just because we wanted to destroy its empire.

  1. Uhuh, so who is the ruler of Canada? Google it.
Edit: guys, its clearly said in jest. But the internet does say this: His Majesty was officially proclaimed as King of Canada at Rideau Hall on September 10, 2022.

  2. In Canada’s case, they were promoted to a Dominion, USA got full independence

  3. Who is this we?

    I have powers now?

    Cool!

The OP now has independence, enjoy it

  4. We gave them independence because they’re tantamount to yanks and we wanted nothing more to do with them

  5. We let Canada go because we knew they could make it on their own. We had our doubts about America and it turns out we were right. The drug addicted, wayward child we all hope we don’t have some day.

  6. The US one is more “urgh, the French are meddling with our colonies. It’s not worth fighting for but we’d better make it hard to show we’re willing to defend out assets.”

  7. funny way to describe the french having to literally implode their own economy to the point where it was a primary factor in their revolution, only for it to still not work and resulting in america dealing with 90% mortality rates in some battles.

  8. Check out the Feninan Raids and how they impacted Canadian’s movement for independence. It is often overlooked how crazy it was, Irish American veterans attempted to conquer part of Canada in exchange for Irish independence, and the US (already pissed at UK’s involvement in supplying the confederacy) just sorta let it happen. Like that’s nuts!

  9. The American colonies didn’t ask for independence, they asked for representation in parliament. Independence was a compromise.
