  1. A power outage has hit the London Underground, causing major travel disruption for millions of commuters across the capital.

Transport for London’s (TfL) website showed the entire Bakerloo, Waterloo and City, Suffragette and Weaver lines were suspended.

All of the Jubilee line to the west of London Bridge was inactive, while the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Abbey Wood was shut down.

There were also part suspensions along the Northern and Piccadilly lines.

It is understood that the chaos was caused by a power outage at around 2.30pm, which halted some trains. Power has since been restored but delays and suspensions are ongoing.

TfL’s website also appeared to be suffering from intermittent issues, with live maps and tube status pages not loading.

Transport officials were seen directing passengers with suitcases away from Elizabeth line services at Paddington station, shortly before 4pm, recommending buses across the capital. TfL staff said they do not know when the entrance will reopen.

“It was a power outage. The lights just went off, we don’t know anything else,” an underground staff member said.

“It’s been about an hour-and-a-half now. We can’t say when it will be fixed.”

A spokesman for TfL said there was an outage in south-west London for “a matter of minutes” and “everything shut down” due to a “National Grid issue”.

  2. Probably not related but what was the cause of the Heathrow power cut?
