1. Just stop going to dictatorships and you stand a much lower chance of being arrested if you’re minding your own business

   Seriously, yes the local laws might be ridiculous and oppressive. That’s why you **don’t** go there.

   Every time I see some twat bragging about their holiday trips to Dubai I wince. Willfully oblivious, and the first to be demanding pity if they run afoul of the abhorrent laws.

5. Don’t read the headline – read the article – he has ties with someone that the Saudi government deems a threat.

   He was arrested due to his connections and they used social media as a scapegoat.

6. Why would anyone go there?

7. “jailed over tweet” is always a bad faith representation when the content of the tweet is not stated.

   It would be like claiming Shipman was “jailed for providing pain relief”.
