I know the sun is out and so people go crazy/fridges over heat but in the last 2 weeks I have been into 3 small food shops (M&S and Co-Op) and been faced with bare fridge sections – have I been unlucky or is there a supply chain issue they’re not telling us about?

  1. M&S is due to the hacking. I know Co-Op were also targeted so might be similar.

  2. M&S and Co-op have both had cyber attacks and so are likely having stock issues.

    Try a Tesco or Sainsbury’s.

  3. Same, it’s co-op I noticed it at, and funnily enough m&s straight after. The others seem ok though. signs around co op about supply issues

  4. Both organisations were recently attacked by hacking ransom criminals. Their logistics were interrupted for sure. I read somewhere that even systems like monitoring fridge temperatures were not entirely reliable.

I’m guessing that empty shelves are at least in part due to that.

  5. Nope. Can confirm, two coops (farringdon and wood street) bare shelves.

  6. I work in a coop the official answer is “we have an ongoing IT issue affecting deliveries” the full truth is they got hacked and the delivery system doesn’t work now so no stores are getting deliveries

  7. Was in Co-Op earlier, virtually all the chillers were empty and only scraps of fruit and vegetables. Makes sense now I’ve seen this

  8. Co ops are a real mess. My local obe is almost stripped bare.

  9. >or is there a supply chain issue they’re not telling us about?

They have been telling us about it, repeatedly.

  10. You’re joking, right?? Read the news, fella. Of course those 2 have supply chain issues.

  11. Bexleyheath M&S seemed ok, but the M&S stuff from Ocado are all out of stock, had to go there like a real person. Russians giving us a taste of their shops.

  12. “I went into the only two shops having highly publicised cyber attacks and, like, their supply chain was disrupted?!1!”

    Nah I call engagement farming

  13. yeah only core lines are replenishing or something. things that come from external suppliers are mostly normal e.g. sandwiches from greencore, newspapers stickers n that from menzies, etc. but the bulk comes from the rdc’s (coop group) and they were part of the hack it seems.

  14. coop sucks, idk how it still in business, everything so overpriced for no reason

  15. Yeah, the Slow-Op’s stock levels are dire ATM. Worse than normal.

  16. One of the biggest news pieces in the country right now and you’re unaware and asking on Reddit? What a woeful day lmao

  17. 3 shops in a small area, isn’t all of London suburbs

My anacdotel evidence is that the shops I’ve been to in Northwest and southwest London shops seem pretty well stocked

  18. There’s a co-op near me that’s looked like this for like 7/8 years

  19. This is to prevent shoplifting, all cheese, fromage frais and milk etc is kept under the counter in special secure mini fridges 😜
