The closest thing are kids who picked up their accent from YouTube or whatever
If you say Y’all unironically then someone in the UK will call you a cunt… possibly several people.
You guys lap up all the worst of our pop culture and lament online how British culture is getting Americanized. Who’s kidding who here?
We’ll say “y’all” but it’s with layers of sarcasm and a cup of tea in hand
I’ve found that some of the younger generation say “The Feds” instead of police which is quite annoying!
He just likes American things, Mr. Partridge.
u wot m8?!
We definitely do have such people
Uk living rent free in American’s heads.
This just isn’t true though? Plenty of kids saying ‘bruh’, ‘this music *slaps*’, ‘bet’ (meaning ‘good’), ‘no cap’, ‘finna’, ‘lowkey’, and ‘rizz’.
We might not like it, but our dialects, especially our youth dialects, are heavily influenced by American English in general and AAVE in particular. We consume a huge amount of American media, especially American music (just look at the charts in recent years!), and it does have an impact.
Wait theres me, i have been asked if i am from texas my accent is so american now 😭😁
I need to point out that in the movie Kingsman (the first one) the chavvie little shits used the word “Feds” to refer to the police.
That is very much not a British thing.
Yeah people do. Honestly all the “mean girls” growing up would put on a slight American accent
The closest thing to obsession is the real deep concern we have about what reckless bullshit those dopey fuckers are going to do next.
Yes we do. I know a guy who actually talks like an American.
I think American accent does have an influence on British English though.
If you compare old footage of people speaking English and now, the now version def sound like a lot more Americanized.
YOU WANT SOME? ILL GIVE IT YA
Well you can’t escape American culture here, so it’s sort of become normal to say and do American things. We don’t think of them as American anymore.
There are lots of cultural exchanges between the US and the UK a lot more than we realize. Especially when it comes to music.
