  1. That’s not really a surprise, but what’s more surprising is that he is sending only second fiddles. What kind of message is he sending the US delegation, led by Marco Rubio, that has been pressuring for this meeting to happen ?

  2. Attend the peace talks and do what exactly? For theatrics? Who negotiates a wide and expansive range of technicalities and issues concerning such a complex conflict at the level of heads of states first? A delegation from both countries needs to come together and discuss literally everything, go back and forth with amended drafts until they reach an acceptable framework for both sides and only then can the heads of state meet to give impetus to the process. You can’t use one of the final steps as your starting point.

    Up until early 2025 Zelensky has rejected any notion of direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine

    As far as Russia is concerned the turkey talks are just to continuation of the one that broke down in 2022. Meaning Putin doesn’t have to attend it in any way

    This is Ukraines problem. They are more concerned about PR instead of the battlefield. Even now they are losing tons of armor and soldiers in Kursk border because of idiotic incursions that take only a couple of tree lines and houses
