I wish that there had been some discussion of the details of the model of all the cardinals’ interpersonal relationships… and that the visualization had more pixels… but I thought that the use of network analysis was still novel enough to post here.
I was interested to see that of the papabile I heard discussed at length, Anders Arborelius and Pietro Parolin were top 2 for between centrality, and Luis Tagle was top for their composite index. In contrast, Robert Prevost I had only seen briefly mentioned, despite having the highest eigenvector centrality and being, of course, ultimately appointed Leo XIV. I suppose for outside observers, it’s easier to notice individuals who bridge groups of people than to see who knows all the other important people.
