I have seen a few of these in the last couple of years, around the Ladbroke Grove area.

I remember an amusing one by St Michael's that said something like "I remember coming here for Sunday school every week so my parents could have a shag in peace". Another on the place of a breakup…

They can last for a long while, they are sturdy and if not for the whimsical text you would think the council put them.

  1. It will be a local artist doing some public installation art. You can have metal signage made quite easily.
Likely their own memories of the area or ones theyve got from others. I like them, they add a bit of whimsy 🙂

  2. might just be another on of those things like the people who put woollen hats on post boxes.

  3. If you’d like to know where some more are at – there’s one next to the entrance of Meanwhile Gardens, and another on Elkstone Road (if I’m remembering correctly)

  4. I quite like this, I’m torn between the positive element of describing vulnerable moments in public places and the negative reaction I have to the idea of someone feeling their personal moments are so valuable as to be worthy of commemorating thusly.

Maybe I’m just a bit jaded. There’s a fine line between things like this and the old “notes to strangers” wank.
