So what will it take for everyone to oppose Israel?
They’ve committed the 3 of the absolute worst crimes known to mankind, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and genocide.
What are you waiting for? What will it take for you to pressure your governments into sanctioning Israel, boycotting all Israeli products, and divesting from their companies?
This op-ed is a brave and necessary contribution to a conversation that many institutions in the U.S. have actively tried to suppress. The authors are not fringe voices, they are respected legal scholars with deep experience in international law and human rights, and their findings align with those of major NGOs and even the International Court of Justice. What’s particularly chilling is how the authors describe the climate of fear and retaliation in academia. When criticism of state violence becomes professionally dangerous, we have to ask ourselves what kind of democracy we’re actually living in. That’s not academic freedom, it’s censorship. And if lawyers and scholars can’t name apartheid when they see it, then what hope is there for accountability?
>When the then defense minister, Yoav Gallant, calls Palestinians “human animals”, he is dehumanizing them to desensitize us.
Deliberately miscontruing what was said to push your agenda? pretty scummy even for lawyers
It was 2 days after Oct 7th and his actual quote “We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly”
>Israel’s apartheid has been overshadowed by its genocidal assault on Gaza
Again lawyers with no respect for the court of law, ignoring the ICJ process entirely to deliver their own verdict
At least these agenda groups are finally giving up trying to label Israel an apartheid state, 2 million Israeli arabs enjoying equal rights too hard to spin even for the most ethically challenged lawyers
The entire first paragraph is dedicated to their credentials in helping the oppressed. While that is commendable, that does not give them any credibility at determining whether a genocide is going on or not. If anything, it just says they may be biased.
>Israel perpetrates apartheid
Ya I mean, when you have a settlement project based solely on letting one class of people come in and take land from a second, less desirable class, that’s pretty clear cut apartheid.
A shock to absolutely no one. The ICJ recently, and the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) in the past, have found Israel in violation of Article 3 of ICERD which prohibits racial segregation and apartheid. Anyone who thinks calling Israel an apartheid state is just buzz words, you need to sit down and do some research.
