  6. I think the second pair of ‘hads’ can be combined. The first two make sense because you are describing a faith previously possessed (and presumably lost). The second pair are still just saying that this didn’t change his life, so one ‘had’ is enough.

  7. The publican at the pig and whistle wants his pub sign changed, the sign writer asks what change do you want? “can you just make the space wider between and and and and and and whistle?”
