"She was jailed for three years and four months in 2023 after she admitted embezzlement from the metal recycling firm."

How many Scottish people would risk 3 years 4 months for £1.5 million (with half off on parole)? How about if you were identified, charged and found guilty you didn't have to repay £800k of what you stole? £800k for 1 year 7 months in prison. Sound appealing?

  1. It’s entirely possible that she will disappear or have an unfortunate accident upon leaving prison. This will have nothing to do with the family she stole from of course…

  2. Is there any reason why she doesn’t need to repay in whole?

  3. 800k for at least 19 months in prison and never being able to get a decent job again? Not worth it.

  4. You canee shove yer granny aff a bus for insurance purposes

  5. I assume a lot of it was spent on holidays etc where there’s nothing to reclaim? You may pay a large amount for a new car but the value drops quickly so it’s not like they can reclaim the money that way.

There’s another one in Aberdeen this week where a council tax worker had stolen £1.1m over 17 years by redirecting council tax refunds to himself. Had to repay £100k, £400k out of his pension and 4 years in jail. I assume a lot of the rest of it is essentially gone and can’t be recovered. Maybe the taxpayer didn’t get it all back but the boy is going to have a grim end of life on state pension.

  6. Knowing who the firm are. Nope not in a Million years

  7. She would have been ordered to repay everything she has. If she doesn’t she gets extra jail time. It wouldn’t be fair to give someone extra jail time for failing to repay when they’re unable to do so. Still agree sentence is remarkably lenient.

  8. I was once told very seriously that stealing from a scrappy is bad for your health, I wasn’t even stealing!

  9. Funny this last gangster recently who had this power used on him was told to pay 1 quid and apparently saw millions in his time.

Former head of south Arson council will get to retire in peace with what he’s collected. Former polis turned Tory politician and then folk act surprised that the scaffolding around Ayr station at 50k a week was going to a crime family in Glasgow. Finally caught because he was recorded at it but the full town knew it was happening like. South Arson council was operating like the mafia without the polis like pure untouchables. Like we knew it was open talk in the pubs who burnt down the hotel! Drugs money, and one hell of a way to launder it all and folk smarter than me paying for it via their tax bill.

Won’t come to light but he will get to retire in peace and it will be covered up in typical tory fashion.
