Katarsis from Lithuania (Image: AP)Singing for Lithuania in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is the alternative rock band Katarsis.
The experimental group of four will be representing their home country in the final of this year’s competition which takes place in the Swiss city of Basel on Saturday night.
Katarsis were selected to represent Lithuania after they won the Lithuanian Eurovision pre-selection show, EUROVIZIJA.LT, with their song Tavo Akys.
Made up of Lukas Radzevičius (vocals), Alanas Brasas (guitar), Emilija Kandratavičiūtė (bass guitar) and Jokūbas Andriulis (drums), the group are known for their distinctive sound and emotionally-charged compositions.
Bursting onto the scene with their signature song Vasara Galvoj Minoras, Katarsis blend alternative rock, post-punk and indie in their music. Their songs often explores themes of pain, longing and personal liberation.
Boasting powerful live performances, Katarsis released their EP, Dausos, last year, and currently have over 300,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
The band are hoping to top Lithuania’s 2006 Eurovision placement, when the nation finished in their record high position of sixth.
Lithuania aren’t pegged as one of the favourites to win, with their odds of winning 200/1 ahead of the show, according to bookies Ladbrokes.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 final takes place on Saturday, May 17. It will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer with Graham Norton hosting and commentating for UK viewers. On BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, Scott Mills and Rylan will be leading the commentary. Coverage across the BBC will start at 8pm.
