Representing Lithuania this year is the experimental rock band Katarsis, known for their brooding, atmospheric sound. Their entry, Tavo Akys, blends intense guitar riffs with emotional depth, setting them apart with its unique, genre-defying style.
Lithuania, the only Baltic nation yet to win Eurovision, is hoping to change that with this entry. Katarsis aims to earn a spot on the left side of the scoreboard — something Lithuania has not achieved since 2006. In 2024, they finished 14th with Luktelk, scoring 90 points, but this year they’re aiming for a higher finish.
Katarsis secured their place in the final after a powerful performance in the semi-finals. As part of their preparations, the band performed at Eurovision pre-parties in Amsterdam, London, and Madrid, generating excitement ahead of their performance in Basel.
Their bold, atmospheric performance is expected to stand out in a competition full of diverse acts. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter
Who is Tavo Akys?
As stated on the Eurovision website, Katarsis is made up of Lukas Radzevičius on vocals, Alanas Brasas (guitar), Emilija Kandratavičiūtė (bass guitar), and Jokūbas Andriulis (drums). Their debut track Vasara Galvoj Minoras has since become one of their hallmark songs.
With a style that blends alternative rock, post-punk, and indie elements, Katarsis delves into themes of pain, longing, and personal freedom. Their gripping live performances amplify these emotions, striking a chord with their growing fanbase. In 2024, they released their first EP, Dausos, which was well met by fans.
Katarsis kicked off their journey to Eurovision by winning the Lithuanian pre-selection show, EUROVIZIJA.LT, where they received an impressive 9,374 votes from the public.
Lyrics of Tavo Akys
The English translation of this song according to Wiwibloggs:
Empty words only fuel the fireThe houses are burningThey start to collapseFrom her eyes, the greatest downpourThe foundations of everythingHave already begun to rot
Just to protectHer
Your eyes see painFor my eyes, it only gives a feelingYour eyes see painFor my eyes, it only gives a feelingYour eyes see painFor my eyes, it only gives a feelingYour eyes see painFor my eyes, it only gives a feeling
Don’t be afraidI cry in your dreamsOnly in your dreams, I cryDon’t be afraidI cry in your dreamsOnly in your dreаms, I cry
Yours, yours, yourѕ…Yours, yours, yourѕ…Yours, yours, yourѕ…
