Hey, im in switzerland for 5 years already, when i started living here i was living in VAUD, i learned French at home and in 1 year i got B1, so now i live i LU i did 7 months homeoffice on preply.com, which make me an A2.3 in german, i have asked multiple times for schools which people normally people say (MIGROS school) but i've also heard a lot of people talking bad about it…. so i need this community help to find a good intensive school to learn German.

ps: i live literally in the border between LU/BE so anything close by will be a good option.

  1. The best school is the one guy / girl you get to teach you in private and online in your mother tongue . Cheap and practical ( no need to process everything thru an intermediary language [ 80% English for most of us ])

  2. My wife went to MigrosKlubschule and she is speaking quite well in less than 8 months

  3. I‘d like to quote the highest education losers put on facebook: The school of life.

Besides talking in daily life (and schools like Migros etc) you could check if there is something like a Sprachcafe, Sprachtandem or similar close to you or if your municipality offers something (just to broaden your search horizon)

  4. Idk about the specific schools in your region but I went to both ILS (A2.1-B2.1) and Migrosklubschule (B2.2) and both were really good (Basel). I did Saturday + evening courses in ILS and the intensive daytime course in Migrosklubschule. I think it’s hard to compare because people in the daytime courses tend to be unemployed and so are more committed to doing well to find a job fast. People doing evening courses usually don’t really need the language for work and so it’s a different atmosphere. I was skeptical about Migrosklubschule myself because I heard mainly bad things about it but in the end my teacher was amazing. Sure the class sizes are bigger but that makes the conversations more interesting.
