The decisive day began with Switzerland securing a solid 4–1 victory over Kazakhstan. Despite arriving in Denmark just hours earlier from Winnipeg, Nino Niederreiter wasted no time making an impact, recording an assist in his first appearance of the tournament. Later in the day, the United States delivered a dominant third-period performance, scoring four unanswered goals to defeat Czechia. That win ensured Switzerland retained the top spot in the group. In the evening game, Denmark edged past Germany, securing the final quarterfinal berth from the group.

In Group A, Austria defeated Latvia with a clear 6-1, Slovakia lost 2-1 against Finland, and Canada defeated Sweden. These results brought Canada to first place, followed by Sweden, Finland, and Austria in that order.

With the quarterfinals now set, the knockout stage will begin on Thursday, May 22. Switzerland will face Austria at 4:20 p.m. in Herning. Notably, Austria’s roster features several players familiar to Swiss fans, including four under contract in the National League: Bernd Wolf (EHC Kloten), Benjamin Baumgartner (SC Bern), Vinzenz Rohrer (ZSC Lions), and Dominic Zwerger (HC Ambrì-Piotta). Additionally, Oliver Achermann (HC La Chaux-de-Fonds) represents the Swiss League. Moreover, their head coach, Roger Bader, is Swiss.
