Kim Kardashian testified in Paris court over armed robbery in 2016 • FRANCE 24 English

With close to 500 journalists accredited and crowds of fans arriving hours early to catch a glimpse, all eyes were on Kim Kardashian as she made her entrance at the Paris courthouse accompanied by her mother, Kris Jenner. I think it was, you know, a heroic effort on her part. Obviously, she testified this was a devastating experience for her. She was so distraught at the time that she was not even able to come back here and and to be in Paris, a city that she’s always loved. The robbery in October 2016 lasted just 15 minutes, but Kardashian told the court about the trauma it left on her when men stormed her hotel room in the middle of the night and tied her up at gunpoint. I thought it was some sort of terrorist attack, and I didn’t immediately understand it was for my jewelry. I absolutely thought I was going to die. The asalants stole millions of dollars of jewelry, including Kardashian’s engagement ring. French prosecutors say that despite being in their 60s and 70s, the men were seasoned criminals. One of them told Kardashian that he regrets his actions in a letter that was read out in court. To which Kardashian responded, “I forgive you for what has taken place, but it doesn’t change the feelings and the trauma and the fact that my life was forever changed. I believe in rehabilitation, but it isn’t for me to decide. It’s up to the jury. My job is just to tell my truth and hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.” From the witness stand, Kardashian said that since the robbery, she now had up to six security guards at home and that she avoids posting her whereabouts in real time. Kardashian, who is studying to become a lawyer herself, told the court she now hoped for closure. The trial is scheduled to run until May 23rd.
