  1. I for one hope that 1950s styling appreciation becomes more mainstream. It’s just so elegant. Have fun on your beautiful new bike!

  2. I’d definitely be looking at a gel seat cover, I did a mile on my sons bike (haven’t ridden for decades) and was walking like John Wayne for a few hours after!

Honestly thought the added protection I’d grown over the years would have helped 😆

    Congratulations and enjoy

  3. I hope you enjoy your new bike. Keep safe and have fun.

  4. Have to buy some Pokémon cards (or whatever kids buy these days) and put them in the wheels so you sound like you’re on a motorbike!!

  5. Is it your birthday today? If so Happy Birthday 🥳🚲

  6. You need a kitten to put in the basket too. Maybe surrounded by flowers you picked yourself.

  7. Bobbin bikes do a stylish helmet in the same colour if you want to match.

  8. A mighty fine chariot. I wish you a great many miles of enjoyment, and may the wind forever blow on your back.

    Happy Birthday 🎂

  9. I love my Pendleton. They’re on the heavier side for bikes, and you’ll get fit if you go up hills regularly. But they look so classy whatever you’re doing!

  10. Great ride .. when you get the basket you should definitely pick up a bunch of flowers and a fresh baguette and wizz through the streets like a star in French film lol .,

  11. Well done. I got my bike out of storage and started cycling 3 weeks ago, I’m 56. It’s made me so happy. Hadn’t cycled in years. Be prepared for some serious saddle soreness, and be prepared for being a bit rubbish on it. But keep going, it’s great. Definitely get a basket for the front and start doing small errands on it. Get a good lock.

  12. Great decision!
I’ve recently got back into cycling and it’s so much fun, enjoy your new bike!

  13. Great bike! Stick a basket on the front and you fit right in at Soho Farmhouse!

  14. Happy birthday! I bought a bike around 5 years ago and love cycling everywhere. Hope you enjoy it!

  15. As a keen cyclist I love to see this! Cycling is a fantastic way to get around and a brilliant form of exercise. Here are a few things you can do to make your riding more enjoyable.

    – Once you have your bike, make sure the saddle is set at the correct height and the handlebars are adjusted correctly for your riding position. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this yourself then any bike shop will do it for free, it’s a 30 second job.

    – Buy either a saddle cover, a saddle with more cushioning, or get a pair of padded bike shorts. These will make your rides much more comfortable and hopefully avoid the numb arse most new cyclists get!

    – Get insurance and a decent lock. For a bike of this price range the insurance will be peanuts, unfortunately even the best locks can be broken by a dedicated thief. It’s worth it for the £2 a month or so it will cost you.

    – Regularly blow up your tires! Not only does this help prolong the life of your tires but under inflated tires are the cause of the vast majority of punctures. It will also make riding easier more generally – cycling with flat tires is a bit like trying to run with your shoelaces tied together.

Also, regarding the basket; this is a great idea, but just be aware that it will block your view of the front wheel, and many new cyclists find this a bit disorienting at first. If you’re looking to carry things then a decent pannier rack for the back may be a better option for you – but obviously the basket will look better!

Above all, stay safe and enjoy your new bicycle!

  16. My wife has that exact same bike. It’s soooo much nicer to ride than my mountain bike

  17. I had that bike in red with a basket and I loved it. Wonderful bike, enjoy it!

  18. Buy two bike locks. They don’t need to be expensive, but two is better than one, and bike thieves will move on to the next bike with only one lock.
    I’m a locksmith.

  19. I love pastel vintage style bikes! I’m insanely jealous! Hope you have a great time!

  20. Me wife bought exactly the same bike and did exactly the same as you, added a basket.

  21. Not if, When will it be stolen sadly. Buy a solid look, not a thin cable. Its sad but bikes now are always stolen

  22. Be warned it’s a gateway drug – after 30 years of no exercise at all other than walking (I don’t drive), last summer I too got a bicycle for my birthday, just for practical reasons, to make it quicker and easier to pop down to the shops y’know? Now at 54 years old I’m doing 20 km rides into the countryside just because it’s a nice day and this year I just started my first c25k 😂
