That’s great to see. There’s a real concern around the decline of Adders in Scotland. Glad you took a photo, as you never know when you’ll see an adder one.
Beautiful creature! I had no idea they were so boldly patterned tbh.
This is so dangerous, you should call this police!
Not to disappoint you, but they’re quite common to spot around mount keen. Every time I go I spot one, usually sunbathing on the path.
Cool! Only ever seen dead ones, what a beauty!
Once you’ve seen one, you’ll see an adder, and an adder, and an adder.
YOINK
I’ve seen a few in the Cairngorms. One reared up at me once lol. A friend’s dog got bitten by one – thankfully they realised and managed to get the dog to a vets quickly and dog was saved. I also saw a black one at the back of Corrour bothy once which has made me never want to camp there.
It took me 34 years before I saw one. My sighting was at Loch Doon. It slithered away as soon as we noticed it.
Oh wow, that is rare. I remember getting told in primary school that we have these, and to this day I’ve never met anyone who has seen one in person.
Lovely! Only ever seen one of them in my life, and that was way down in Cornwall.

That’s a plus!
Woooow
My great aunt got bitten by one. We joked that the poor snake was probably worse off, as she wasn’t a nice person.
