This is great, but what does the fire ball between the rainbow and the beer suds represent?
Edit: please share meds taken to inspire such a powerful view into one’s soul. I want to be a transformative Artist as well.
I was in my 40’s before I threw off the blinders of conservatism. Something has certainly been trickling down since the 80’s, but it sure isn’t prosperity.
72 year old me:
Democratic socialism is the only form of government that makes sense for human beings on this planet.
64 here. Liberal af.
Conserving hatred and selfishness duh
Your mileage may vary. I also most certainly did not get more conservative. The idea is that as you accumulate more wealth/ status that you’ll want to work to preserve that but you’re talking to the generation that had seen multiple economic crashes caused by greed.
Gen X here. I’m WAY more liberal now than I was in my 20s. And I was fairly liberal in my 20s.
An illustration of the perils of broad generalities. I’m a boomer and have only grown more progressive through life. The passage of time has revealed too many of America’s self aggrandizing beliefs to be nothing but myths in service to the gilded class.
Yeah that’s what my dad said. He said when I finally get going in my career and see how much they take out of my checks I’ll want to vote differently. Mfer, if they take a few extra dollars here n there to build libraries and fix public playgrounds for kids, take my money.
#BORTLES!!
It isn’t 30s, in my experience, people become more conservative starting in their 50s, and it gets progressively worse in their 60s & 70s.
I’m in my 40s and I’ve definitely became slightly more conservative. Fortunately, it’s not by a significant amount – I’m still a democratic socialist.
That counts on you getting wealthier as you get older, which isn’t happening, since most people live paycheck to paycheck
Conserve refers to not spending public money on help for the poor.
Conservative is just a code word for racist and scared.
67 yr old here. Same.
I’ll be 55 this year. I get more liberal every single day. The right has consistently shown that they only willingly represent the one percent. Money is the only thing they care about. People are secondary to them.
I think they said this because back in the day, you got way more stuff and you would enter the “I got mine fuck you” stage of your life.
Not as many people are entering that stage of their lives
65 here… still liberal AF!
An old timer, when I was young, once told me “If you’re not a liberal when you’re young you don’t have a heart and if you’re not conservative when you’re old you don’t have a brain”. I guess I don’t have a brain.
I’ve only gotten more progressive as I age.
I am maybe less eager to declare I’m a socialist but only because I’m tired of talking to people who don’t know what that means and truly do not want to.
But, my politics and policy preferences are more progressive and less classically liberal even.
I’ve lost pretty much all patience for capitalism. I used to think it was a useful tool, but it’s too dangerous. These people exploit it and their workers to board wealth that they then use to undermine democracy and the rule of law (justice).
We can’t afford to allow this to continue. We’re basically super-feeding our own predators and most of us are too ignorant and blind to see what’s happening before our very eyes.
I wish people in this country cared enough to learn about history and even just a little political science. One doesn’t have to be a professor or anything. Just understand the basics.
I have moved further and further left as I go through my 30s and my income and net worth increases. I just got my curious about the way the world works and got to really understand the disaster our system has become. You have to be lazy and stupid to keep this dogma. Wealth is just the excuse the previous generations have used to entrench their beliefs
Me in my 50s!
I was super conservative when I was young and poor. Now I’m in my late 40s, financially comfortable, and super liberal.
There is an irony that Conservatism as a political ideology is based on the concept that institutions and the norms of society need to be protected and maintained, and if they aren’t, society will crumble. Yet here we have the Republican party (and those that vote for them) calling themselves Conservatives (which they are not) while they gleefully tear down everything our society has spent more than a century building up all while bringing our country to the brink of collapse (tearing down healthcare system, trying to tear down our educational system, replacing reason with hate-fueled rage and revenge, dissolving the concept of the rule of law, and putting the most-corrupt in power over our systems of government). People that think they are conservative are the least conservative in the country.
Same for 75 yo me.
This was from the days when being fiscally conservative and socially liberal was not a meme. It was just the best way to handle politics and resulted in bipartisan legislation that was good for the people.
So even though you had a socially liberal stance when you were younger you would eventually grow into preferring conservative style economics. And that was the norm for the majority of people for four generations.
Bill Clinton was fiscally conservative and socially liberal. And that was responsible for one of our last greatest housing efforts nationally we have seen
So was Biden. It’s why Obama tapped him for vp. Because Obama’s economic plan was pure neoliberalism. And he need Biden’s fiscally conservative base to win the presidency. And they showed up and voted for him
It’s why all these middle-aged and older libertarians, centrists and independent voters voted for biden. Because he was so much like Bill Clinton
And Harris is nothing like either one of them. Neither is trump. Which is why millions of them stayed home.
Heading towards 70. Born a leftie, will die a leftie.
This is so me. Truly “woke” up in my old age lol.
the definition of conservative is: *tending or inclined to maintain existing views, conditions, or institutions*
you know like: marriage, having kids, going to school, obeying the law, faith in god, proper english
so many people are firmly conservative but think they’re not because of maga
the right has gone so far right, that a center-right person feels like a liberal
