We watched this on iPlayer. It was a great watch. Love the fact that the bloke at the top in the high-vis had a pint in his hand and the bloke in the white coat with the stick was chain smoking 🤣🤣
Congratulations, picture quality of your phone was better than BBC who I presume turned up with proper BBC camera equipment but uploaded a bunch of blurry fuzzy clips.
Now that’s what I call World class athletes , makes you proud to be British , that hill is the K2 of the cheese rolling community .
The BBC actually live-reported it – it’s international now; there was a woman from North Carolina, and a bloke from Sydney. Imagine coming all the way from Australia just to chase a cheese down a hill…
Took part in this back in around… I’m gonna say 2007? Maybe 2008, I can’t remember.
It was a lot of fun. I ended up with a curvature in the spine and have been dealing with persistent lower back pain ever since. Would I do it again? Probably.
Read about this when I was a child (I’m from South America) . When I moved here someone mentioned and couldn’t believe it was around the corner. I went to watch. What a great experience! Those people are nuts!
How was the traffic/parking this year? There was a year when people were abandoning their cars on the motorway.

The Hallaton bottle kicking is also fun, and extremely violent.
They also do a really violent game at Atherstone on the streets.
I can hear the knee ligaments ripping.
Put a “Stilt On” and have a go XD
Too much falling down and rolling over for my liking, the games gone.
What are the rules here: if you can stay on your feet, do, but if not, try not to break anything?

Is it wrong that I loved the crowd’s reaction when it happens? The collective ‘Ooohhh!’ was a thing of beauty! 😳

We walked up the path beside the cheese rolling hill while walking the Cotswold Way earlier this year, and none of the pictures I’ve ever seen do justice to how steep it is and how little run-off space there is at the bottom. It’s insane that people run down it even without the complication of giant wheels of cheese.
Gravity always wins that one.
Holding up your phone to stop people behind you being able to see 👏

For anybody concerned about the back-flipping cheese racer in the final race (black robes and hat), he was my cousin and he spent a few hours in hospital but miraculously came out unharmed.

My brother won his heat in 2007. Mad mad rain. He shivered for days after. Thought he might have had hypothermia but apparently not. Good times!
