Iran has said that it is open to compromises related to its nuclear program but uranium enrichment remains non-negotiable amid indirect talks with the US delegation for a nuclear deal as Tehran’s foreign ministry indicated that Washington understands this position, CNN reported.
According to Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, a compromise can be reached “in so many ways” but did not specify and provide details regarding the compromises Iran is ready to make for its nuclear program.
“If the intention is to make sure that Iran’s nuclear program would not be weaponized, I think that’s something that we could simply do,” Baghaei added. Iran’s spokesperson added that the country’s right to nuclear energy must be protected, which has been Iran’s long-standing stance during talks.
Set to travel to Rome for 5th round of indirect talks with the United States.
Figuring out the path to a deal is not rocket science:
Zero nuclear weapons = we DO have a deal.
Zero enrichment = we do NOT have a deal.
Time to decide…

Baghaei said that if Washington believes it can deprive Iranians of peaceful nuclear energy then it could jeopardize the entire process of talks and negotiations to arrive at a nuclear deal. The United States has imposed sanctions on Iran for continuing its nuclear program.
After the fifth round of talks between US and Iran on the latter’s nuclear program inched forward in Rome, US President Donald Trump expressed hope and optimism that progress was being made.
Before returning to Washington on Monday, Trump told reporters in New Jersey that “We had some very good talks with Iran yesterday and today, and let’s see what happens. But I think we could have some good news on the Iran front.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also hailed the fifth round of talks with the US as “one of the most professional rounds of negotiations” but cautioned that key issues remained too complicated to be resolved in two-three meetings.
Notably, the Trump administration has been rigid with its stance that Iran ends all its uranium enrichment, but Tehran’s spokesperson Baghaei said that US delegations’ behaviour during talks in Rome suggests a softer approach.
