  1. We need to be more competitive on the world stage.

    Thems rookie numbers.

  2. Anyone fancy working out the murder rate per 100,000 at the peak year of deaths during the Troubles? Curious and can’t be bothered to do it myself!

    Edit, I asked AI:

The murder rate in Belfast during the Troubles, specifically in 1972, is reported to be around 31 per 100,000. This rate is significantly higher compared to other European cities during that time. To put this into perspective, in 2010, Belfast’s murder rate had decreased to 3.3 per 100,000, ranking it sixth on a list of most dangerous European cities, although this particular ranking might not be entirely accurate according to some sources.

In 2010, the actual ranking placed Belfast 17th in Europe with a rate of 2.8 homicides per 100,000 population, according to the UNODC. The significant decrease from the 1970s reflects efforts to improve safety and reduce violence in the region ¹ ².

  3. Didn’t realise Glasgow was afflicted with issues of the above mentioned sort – to the degree cited within the infographic..

    Kinda shocking. What’s behind it?

  4. So is that what Bruno Mars was referring to in Uptown Funk?

    >
    Julio, get the stretch
Ride to Harlem, Hollywood, Jackson, Mississippi
If we show up, we gon’ show out
Smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy

    >

    Takes on very sinister connotations!

  5. There’s my reminder I’ve still not watched In Bruges yet.

  6. So if you love in Jackson, you have an overall chance of 0.1% of being murdered there 😳

Holy shit, if only they had more guns 😢

  7. If you are outside the drug world, nor in a relationship with a narcissistic nut, chances of getting murdered in NI is near zero. Sadly, the second category is mostly about femicide, violent, controlling partners.

  8. The US numbers are higher, means the US wins. USA 🇱🇷 USA 🇱🇷 USA 🇱🇷
