  1. Awwww happy for them! I’m glad they’ve been able to settle into their lives together and live free of the Imperial Household Agency.

  2. The video is very AI generated but seems she gave birth in the USA, not in Japan. I wonder if that was on purpose to avoid any media.

  3. Ive seen commentators speculating that if their child is a boy then it might become the emperor if Hisahito has no kids. However, the issue is that the Japanese Parliament wants the emperor to be decended from the male line only which is why sons from either Mako, Kako and Aiko wont be in consideration. It’s all very odd.

Meanwhile Mako herself is still very much disliked by the Japanese public and I think any news from her and Kei is still met with negativity. Unfortunately, her marriage also tanked the Akishinos popularity in the general public too.

Congrats to her 👏 hopefully her and the kid get to live a private and well fulfilled life.

  4. Happy for them. The way the Japanese media and social media has treated them has been disgraceful. And I see her sister Kako gets endless online trolling under any video featuring her by extension. I hope this kid can grow up having a happy private life.

  5. I hope this family has an incredible life in the US. Her detractors should be ashamed of themselves.

  6. Congratulations to them! They’ve been through a lot and they’re both still so young.

It’s great that they both stood by each other through it all and seem to be living good lives.

And she refused to take the taxpayers’ money as a ‘wedding gift’ that could’ve helped ease their life in New York as newlyweds. She’s very honourable and steadfast.

  7. Such lovely news! So very happy for them both

  8. I remember reading articles about Princess Mako’s husband having to re-take the bar exam. The comments then were generally sympathetic towards them, but I gather that back in Japan they were very nasty.
