Americans only hate it because it doesn’t come in a doggy bag to go.. Or isn’t from a fast food restaurant.
All of this is good hearty food though, the whole “British food bad” thing is complete bollocks.
Can’t go wrong with meat n two veg.
Not a single piece of chlorinated chicken or steroid/ hormone injected meat like the septics….
As opposed to American deep fried plastic with corn syrup.
I like the occasional shepherd’s pie or bangers and mash, but there’s a good reason why indian is so popular in the uk.
We like a proper hearty meal. Not some dish with 100 different seasonings and chemicals. No ned to add 20 different powders to a Sunday joint
The pics have me a semi, the description finished the job!
Ironic from a nation that has delights such as squirty cheese and meatloaf
Is there such a thing as American food ? I just thought its different cuisines from around the world
A lot of southern American dishes look like this too tbf (and they’re reportedly good) 🤷♂️
Forgot the chicken, fish, veg, and a multitude of other ingredients that aren’t brown, but don’t let reality impinge on typical American fallacy
Stick to the food that they’ve appropriated from everywhere else
Thinking about it, is it just meatloaf they’ve invented?
Does meat come in other colours?
What other colour should the meat be in these situations?
Chicken tikka masala isn’t really “Indian.” It was developed specifically for the British palate. Indians don’t eat it in India. This is the case with a lot of foreign foods (unless it’s being marketed to expats) – they’re modified versions to fit better with what we as a people like.
“British food bad” is my favourite stereotype, because I know instantly that the person espousing it has never travelled.
Sure, British is the worst of the cuisines that make it to America. But then we’re competing against France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Japan, Thailand, China, India. And even then, only against the dishes the Americans have cherry picked.
But there are hundreds of cuisines that don’t make it to America precisely because they are so bad. There’s a reason you don’t see restaurants from, say, the Czech Republic, Iceland, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia or Mongolia.
Anyone who actually believes British food is bad clearly hasn’t tasted actual *bad* food.
I would eat it!!
We don’t need to make everything that should be savoury sweet. I’ve seen so many clips of American cooking where they take perfectly good ingredients and dump loads of sugary stuff on them.
We even know how to spell ‘savoury’ correctly.
Fuck yes, America needs more brown meat and potatoes. I firmly believe these meat pies I hear about are the greatest food in the world and I think they must be illegal over here, never seen them.
That lot is the worst food we have
If i can eat it with a bag of 12 Yorkshire puddings i’m happy.
So, they don’t like meat and don’t know that Indian food was invented in Scotland?
American food:
Chemical laced slop
Imitation meat
Pasteurised processed cheese product
Vomit chocolate
Mexican food
If the food actually looked like this it wouldn’t be a problem. The issue is these are stock photos and not representative of what you actually get served.
American and a food history lover here. You can always remind us that there is nothing American about apple pie and it’s an English dish
not even british but can’t go wrong w a roast din
And the problem with brown meat and potato is what?
The peas seem important too.
So meat and veg is bad according to overweight insufferable lard eating Americans?
Our food was made by mums, I’m not going to apologise for being loved
American here. British classics are classic for a reason. Delicious. Carry on, cousins.
It’s weird when Americans pretend food brought into the UK by immigrant groups doesn’t count
If that’s the rule then no US food can be considered
I’m on orlando now and the neon drink options are massive. The amount of shit put into their food is crazy. Not hard to see why there’s soooooo many huge people here and I do mean huge. Not just fat but morbidly obese. And they still fill their faces with pies and cakes.
Still looks like shit
But I love potatoes, and you brown meat for flavor and color. No problems here
I’m from the South where a lot of us have English ancestry.
All of this looks very normal to me. I thought Yorkshire pudding was a southern thing until I learned it was British as a teenager.
All about the seasoning and little additions, innit?!
Compare and contrast: Mac & Cheese…
Americans shit on Indian food being part of British cuisine as if 90% of their food isn’t imported.
I will take shepherd’s pie and Sunday roast any time of the day!!!
Yet, American food is burgers 🇩🇪, fries 🇫🇷, fried chicken 🏴, pizza 🇮🇹, pasta 🇮🇹, waffles 🇧🇪, tacos 🇲🇽, hotdogs 🇩🇪 (cheap version of wursts).
The comments on that post were all positive on British food as a whole, saw comments from Americans, Vietnamese and Germans all saying how much they love a shepherds pie.
Americans see a potato and go into anaphylactic shock.
