They would try ANYTHING before working on themselves.
Keeping the system as is would only work if women would be included in the compulsory service and would add numbers to the whole system.
As this seems out of scope, given recent events, I suppose everyone understands that some things need to be prioritized. It doesn’t help that likely every Swiss person knows a story of some random examples of civilian service, some which are hardly a sacrifice. They might be dated, but still.
Of course there are even more ridiculous stories of army service, but thats out of scope and not really comparable.
Our military works like Youtube: Enshittification of internal options until you switch to the “main” product. Innovation!
Also, why are women in the parliament voting on this matter without ever being affected by this?
There is a few easy ways to fix military recruitment numbers.
1. Finally force women to go and finally create true equality in this area
2. Pay more
If I was 19 again I might just go for Zivilschutz or doppeluntauglich. It’s so unfair to make men in civil service serve longer than in military and most women i talk with don’t know the difference of civil service and civil protection (zivilschutz)
Jesus Christ some swiss men are crybabies about this… And that’s coming from a swiss man.
Just make military service voluntary for everyone. That’s the actual good equality.

Maybe if they sucked less ass it would not be such an issue? Wild idea, i know.
Women should have to do twice as long as men to make up for historical injustices. Alternatively, only women do military service.
