Hopefully some piece in Ukraine and a long, protracted decades long civil war in Russia
The only way I can reasonably imagine anything that you could call victory is Putin dying or being overthrown. So come to think of it we’ll just go with “dying” without specifying causes.
I have full faith that Ukraine is going to keep on doing better and better, but Russia is going to go ahead and just keep on fighting and more horrible ways to their destruction while Putin is in charge. Even if he was acting rationally he’s backed himself into a corner where it’s difficult to consider him remaining in power if he admits mistake and tries to withdraw.
So then it becomes unpredictable. Certainly Russia will be an absolute basket case, I mean more so than they have been for the last century. Or two. But how bad a one? Reformists who also therefore will hope for reconstruction money and integration with regular society and the world order, or… retrenchment and isolationism, they just let themselves continue to withdraw from the world and become less and less of a useful provider of energy, or a trading partner either way.
