  3. Disingenuous headline.

    The ruling is correct, you can’t say someone isn’t a child because they’ve got body hair or a deep voice. Puberty is a thing happening younger and younger and people are considered children until 16/18.

    Surely there’s a better way to carbon date humans? Teeth?

    The rest of the article is just dog whistle stuff against an asylum seeker they used bad evidence on to prove he’s an adult, and it got thrown out, no ones debating he’s an adult just their methodology of proving it was deeply flawed.

  5. Bit of a nothing story.

    Basically, the Home Office decided he was over 16 because of a few physical traits, that they didn’t even record properly, so some qualified social workers looked into it and said there was overwhelming evidence that he was 16. A tribunal agreed with the qualified social workers and that the Home Office hadn’t done its job properly.

    Yeah, it does happen that people turn up who either don’t know or lie about their age, so these things do need to be checked. But it sounds like the right decision was made in the end here.

    I’ll grant you that boys can be hairy and have a deep voice below age 16, but static wrinkles and baldiness seems a bit of a stretch.
