A young Cuban living in Romania has caught attention on social media by sharing her reaction to visiting a shopping mall for the first time in that European country, an experience that was completely new to her.
The video, posted on TikTok by user @claumill_01, shows her amazement as she walks through the mall’s facilities. “Don’t judge me, I had never been here. This doesn’t exist in Cuba,” the young woman commented at the beginning of the recording, reflecting a reality shared by many Cubans who emigrate and encounter common services and spaces for the first time in other countries.
“I was quite impressed at first. There were many stores; I didn’t go into all of them, as it’s obviously very large. I didn’t have time to visit all the shops, but I’ll go back,” she said, while exploring the shopping mall with a mix of surprise and enthusiasm.
After her visit to the interior, the Cuban walked around the outside of the commercial area, where she was also captivated by the atmosphere. “And the truth is that I like everything and I am delighted to learn more each day,” she stated at the end of the video.
The content has generated empathy among Cuban users who have found themselves identifying with the experience, as it reflects how a common gesture in many countries can become an extraordinary experience for those coming from contexts of scarcity and limitations like those in Cuba.
