From time to time I see small vegvesen service huts with a scale in front of them. I assume this is for the police to verify that trucks operate in legal limits?
Is it okay to use them as a normal person? I like to keep track of how much I have loaded to not overload my van and the scales seem to be always on. And I dont see any signs disallowing access?

I have done so myself many times, but beeing a norwegian I dont do it if the police/vegvesen is present and checking trucks…

Seems like you are allowed to use them as. Aprivate person. Under here is alink to the traffic authority in norwegian where you have a link to a map system u can use to find the nearest weight.

Absolutely! You can even use them to figure out how much you owe your mate for some gravel you picked up and such.
They are meant to be used by anyone. Very useful to check tht you are within the law regarding maximum load on your trailer or car.
