34p increase since January, as independent pubs are closing and breweries are struggling with tax and staffing costs.

  1. You know it’s dire when you see a pub offering £5 a pint happy hour and think it’s a good deal

  2. Seems a lot higher than that. Maybe I’m going to the wrong places or maybe it’s offset by Spoons 🙁

  3. I still remember my first £5 pint.

It was in a pub in Wembley that hiked its prices up after 10pm, this was the day after the Brexit referendum. It was a shock then but feels like a bargain now.

  4. Say what you will about the company/owner but this is why I go ‘Spoons these days.

  5. I went out last weekend after sometime, I was shocked to see £7.10 prices for pints at Mercato Metrapolitano. So glad I barely go out. Going to cut down even more.

  6. £6.10 is worth £3.46 in 2005 money and £4.43 in 2015.

  7. And then they wonder why pubs close. It’s a vicious cycle

  8. The future of our pubs is seriously looking bleak. What a shame.

  9. I remember gasping at my first 7 quid pint, couldn’t quite believe it (still can’t, actually). Then again it was in Islington, but still. . .

  10. 6.10 would be good?! I can never find one for that price. 8 quid isn’t unusual

  11. Cries as Marylebone resident who‘s never seen a sub-7 pint

  12. It’s £7 for Taddy Lager now in some central London pubs.

Fucking Taddy Lager of all things.

  13. I remember things hitting £3.50 and thinking that’s pretty ridiculous- things have gotten way out of control there is no way it cost anything near this to grow, malt, produce and drey ales

  14. Unfortunately it’s a win if I can even find a £6.10 pint these days let alone below average

  15. Just make them cost ten pounds. Or a hundred pounds. Or a million pounds – they lost me ages ago.

  16. £6.10??

London has been £6.50 land for ages and venturing out to the suburbs they can be over £7

  17. That’s Manchester prices now. London ya behind the curve 🤣😭

  18. > ….

    > ….

    > *Tennent’s – £4.23*

Hold up…. where can I get a Tennent’s in London?!?!

  19. Called into a pub I used to work in yesterday and they gave me discount. I was delighted I got three pints for less than £20

  20. I honestly haven’t paid less than £7 a pint in over a year…I guess Spoons and zone 6 pubs lower the average

  21. It’s why I’m preferring craft pubs, taprooms and bottle shops. Better beer at better prices and fewer wankers

  22. I came to London for the weekend and the pint wasn’t what upset me – it was the £5.30 Coke on tap in a 330ml glass filled with ice 🥲

  23. It doesn’t seem that long ago that craft beers were the cheaper alternative to mainstream stuff. Didn’t take them long to ruin that whole scene.

  24. Im pretty sure ive not paid £6.10 for a pint in like 3 years…2 rounds now cost me £14 ish pretty much everywhere I go.

Granted, I dont often go to spoons.

  25. Both taste like the bath water from a student halls. Tangy shite
