While not confirmed by either party involved, the Nike Cryshot Mercurial ’98 by Patta boasts the Netherlands’ “Oranje” heritage. Put on display by the country’s National Football Team—which had its Total 90 apparel from the 2004 Euros reissued recently—the vibrant orange tone commemorates the Dutch royal family—the House of Orange-Nassau.
The punchy color animates Patta’s Cryoshot, replacing the yellow accents found on Ronaldo’s Nike Mercurial from the 1998 World Cup. Silver flair reprises its role, while blue sections are overtaken by pitch-black segments. The boot’s traditional tongue features Patta text in orange, while the non-standard, fold-over tongue keeps things muted in all-black. The Amsterdam-based label’s wordmark is debossed into the elongated leather tongue.
