Hellou…I’m interested in electoral geography and voting maps. Poland is a very interesting country in this field. I have one question: what exactly makes this eastern region of Poland near the border with Belarus unique, as it tends to vote differently than the rest of the eastern part? Are there any specific reasons for this?
Thank you for your answer.

  1. If I recall PiS put state of emergency on this region effectively killing what little tourism (and other businesses that related on them being opened) they had there.

  2. Thera are 3 science institutes 1 in Hajnówka and 2 in Białowieża. It is best educated village in Poland.

  3. Military, police force delegated to guard the wall live there temporarily that’s why results might be closer to big cities voting results than small counties

  4. Funny, I asked my wife this very question earlier.
She didn’t really know the reason behind it, but said it was same in most elections

  5. You may not know, but 90% pis/nawrocki voters did it because priest told thmen so.

The region has a lot of Belarusians, and they mosty are not Christians, so they used own brain to vote, not pedopriest brain.

czy to nie jest aby teren żubrów?

  7. Probably those evil migrants that they’ve been warning us about…

  8. Eastern Poland, including the circled area, overwhelmingly supported PiS, reflecting its rural, conservative, and religious demographics. Western Poland leaned toward KO, driven by urban, liberal, and economically developed populations. This pattern highlights the persistent “Poland A” (west) and “Poland B” (east) divide, rooted in historical and socioeconomic differences.

  9. In Poland, priests in churches are very strongly calling for PiS elections. There are a lot of Orthodox people in this region, so they are not the target of this propaganda. In addition, as others have written, Belarusian and Muslim minorities (Tatars) live here, and it is also a region quite popular with highly educated people (lecturers, professors, doctors) who decided to leave the city and spend their retirement in a place that is close to nature. There is also a huge number of soldiers and police stationed there.
