Just watched a video showing Ukrainian FPVs hitting two Russian A-50s. Can’t share the video just yet, but this confirms scuttlebutt from SBU that they knackered two irreplaceable Soviet-era early warning and control aircraft. Russia only has six. Well, now four.

  1. Sounds like Putin’s mean case of Charlie Foxtrot is really getting worse by the day.

  2. They had lost to A-50s even previously to Spiderweb. So they are technically down to 2, if this report is correct.

  3. What about the tu-160’s at belaya? Why were they left untouched? One tu-160 costs the same as five tu-95’s

  4. If this is true then this leaves Russia truly, butt nakedly in spotlights kind of vulnerable to incoming threats not just from Ukraine but from real powers with potent air forces. If anything will force them to start reconsidering peace terms it’s this kind of successful strategic operation that will… That is unless the hardcore blame game that’s going on between the FSB and Military turns into gunshots and the SMO falls apart. We’ll see what happens first 🍿!

  5. Other sources only put there A-50 count at 4 so far 3 have been destroyed if the latest 2 are to be true.

  6. Wait isn’t that that all of them? That’s 4 then right?

  7. They had 7 airframes in 2022 of which 4 were fully operational and one was partially operational. They lost 2 to SAMs and one damaged on the ground leaving 2 operational. Have they managed to hit the operational ones or the grounded ones?

  8. Two or three more to go. Then Russia will have to come begging to the peace table.

  9. Somewhere (Wiki?) I read they had an additional 7 in some stage of repair or upgrade. Sitting at some facility with the engines out.

If true, more airframes MAY be returned to service IF they can expedite and complete the work.

  10. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but assuming for a moment this is true, would the confirmed tally of aircraft destroyed in the raid now sit at 2 A-50s, 12 heavy bombers and 1 transport plane?

  11. Did Ukraine not destroy (by AA, a missile) a russian A-50 some time ago?
