Hello r/Belgium! Extra long shot post.

I'm reaching out to you as part of a project to restore the legendary Stavelot corner, a key section of the original Spa-Francorchamps race track (1939–1978 layout), just outside the centre of Stavelot.

The bend has been rebuilt exactly as it looked in the 60s — complete with period-correct billboards, structures, and race-day atmosphere. Besides motorsport, we're trying to recreate a piece of Belgian heritage that shaped international racing history.

For the inauguration and lasting exhibition, we're collecting stories, photos and memories of people who knew the area, watched races, worked nearby or simply felt the thrill of the old track. If you (or your parents, grandparents…) have anything to share, we’d love to include it in our exhibition and on-site memory wall.

You can reply here or message me directly. On cherche aussi des témoignages en français. En Nederlands ook welkom! The more, the merrier.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Great to see! And lovely shot of that 914 being chased by the 911!

  2. > complete with period-correct billboards, structures, and race-day atmosphere

    Does that include the haybales?

  3. Quelle initiative formidable!

Malheureusement, je n’ai rien pour aider à la restauration, peut-être si mon grand-père était toujours là.

  4. Great initiative! Nothing to share, but glad to see this recognized as historically important.

  5. That’s nice. First I thought it was on the current track because if I’m not mistaken there’s still a corner named stavelot, but that would obviously pose problems with the sponsors of FIA events. I’ll definitely visit when I’m in the region.
