  1. Russia “will have to respond” to Ukraine’s recent devastating drone attacks, [Vladimir Putin](https://inews.co.uk/news/taxe-reeves-could-raise-get-uk-battle-ready-3727662?ico=most_read_by_subscribers) has told [Donald Trump](https://www.google.com/search?q=inews+donald+trump&rlz=1C1GCEA_en&oq=inews+donald+trump&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBggAEEUYOzIGCAAQRRg7MgkIARAAGAoYgAQyBggCEEUYQDIJCAMQABgKGIAEMgkIBBAAGAoYgAQyCQgFEAAYChiABDIJCAYQABgKGIAEMgkIBxAAGAoYgATSAQg2ODMwajBqNKgCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) during a phone call between the two leaders.

Posting on Truth Social after the conversation, the US President said: “We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes, by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides. It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate peace.

“President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”

There was no suggestion Trump pushed back against Putin’s expressed need to retaliate.

In another phone conversation, which appears to have taken place within hours of his call with Trump, Putin spoke with Pope Leo, where the pontiff urged the Russian despot to “seek solutions to the conflict” in Ukraine, according to the Vatican.

The telephone calls follow a week in which Kyiv undertook some of its most [elaborate assaults](https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/everyone-uk-must-prepare-for-missile-attacks-warns-top-general-3730408?ico=in-line_link) since Russia’s full-scale invasion three years ago.

On Sunday, more than 100 Ukrainian drones struck air bases deep inside Russia, targeting dozens of nuclear-capable long-range bombers, according to Ukraine. On Tuesday, it targeted the Kerch bridge linking occupied Crimea to the Russian mainland with an underwater attack.

  2. Let’s see what “military target” putin will chose to respond on a blow on military targets…

  3. Yeah! Time to send those tactical bombers to teach them a lesson!

  4. >“President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”

Why is Trump acting as Putin’s spokesperson?

  5. Shouldn’t the title of the story relay the nature of their nonconsenual kink?

  6. So grazy how russia still tries to act as a victim… And even grazier that trump seems fine with it.

Hopefully more of these attacks from ukrain soon as possible and get that bridge down like yesterday! Come on Taurus!!

  7. Vance previously: “You haven’t said thank you once!”
Putin now: “you haven’t said sorry once!”
Hahah poor zelensky, being surrounded like that

  8. Why? Consider it a fair retaliation by Ukraine for everything you’ve bombed in their land.

Both sides want to be in a strong position before coming to the table. But that thinking is keeping a peace agreement from happening. Forget about winning, the entire conflict is a loss. Think about a future with no more fighting.
