Port Arthur — We’ve learned of a major development in a lawsuit linked to an accident that killed three contract workers at Port Arthur LNG.
Cade Bernsen, the attorney representing Reginald Magee’s family in a wrongful death lawsuit, tells KFDM lawyers for the plaintiffs and Bechtel Energy have finished three days of inspections.
They checked out the scaffolding that collapsed and Bernsen says it’s now been removed from the site.
The 41-year-old Magee and two co-workers, 42-year-old Felix Jose Lopez of Houston and 25-year-old Felipe Mendez Houston, died April 29 at the LNG plant under construction in Port Arthur.
In the wrongful death lawsuit, Bernsen alleges negligence by Bechtel and the other defendants led to the scaffolding’s collapse.
He says Magee’s wife and two children were devastated, telling us his children were looking forward to spending the summer break with their dad.
Bechtel, Port Arthur LNG, and Sempra Infrastructure, say they’re committed to getting answers and making sure it never happens again.
Bernsen says he’s committed to getting justice for Magee’s family as the case moves through the legal system toward possible trial.
