Players played much faster before this
In 1897 there was no such thing as “Northern Ireland”. Ireland was united.
From memory, the video itself was somewhat staged because they couldn’t film a match in the way you’d expect, so they asked one team to defend and one to attack.
That is a poor corner.
The only thing whiter than both teams was those shorts.
The 24-bit audio stream part of the MPEG/MP4 video, sure was pretty good, way back in 1897.
Interesting example of Victorian male modesty, three quarter length shorts, pulled up socks with only the most scantily visible region of lower leg
Cool find and props to whoever cleaned it up / restored it.
That is fascinating.
Tan boots? Game’s gone
-“What formation do you use? 4-4-2? 4-3-3?”
-“10.”

‘Soccer’?
Not much change at the Oval since then.
Why do they sound English?
Looking good after the 8 starter pints in the pub. Half time Guinesses should help them out.
Is the audio original too?
Talk about a low block!
