Do we all pronounce it Badenoch, and not Badenock?
I never even realised I’d been doing that all this time, I’ll keep doing it
Is this “left” in the room with us?
I fail to see the problem
Damn and they’d get away with it if it wasn’t for that meddling democracy thing.
Cope harder.
Crazy article btw:
>The Scottish Conservatives are strong in the Borders and the north-east, Reform in the more populous Central Belt. An understanding between them would leave both with more MSPs next May. Such a deal in Wales might have put Reform into office had the principality not just ditched that voting system and adopted EU-style proportional representation, but that’s another story.
Damn proportional representation leading to parliament actually matching people’s votes!
>The last Labour government passed a series of domestic statutes that constrained its successors: the Human Rights Act, the Climate Change Act, the Equality Act and a dozen more. We need to tackle these, too.
…
>Even if all the obnoxious laws were swept away, what would we do about Left-wing activists who become judges rather than go to the bother of getting themselves elected to anything, and who legislate from the bench? Can we return to the pre-Blair arrangements where the lord chancellor is in charge?
Human Rights, so obnoxious.
(/s if it wasn’t obvious)
An article written by a fucking idiot who isn’t Scottish, or even lived here. The Telegraph couldn’t even recruit a home grown mental case to write this drivel.
Cry more “the times” you’ll pee less.
If only the Left ruled Scotland and the UK the way the billionaire-owned media demand it is.
‘Scottish’ Labour already co-operate with the Tories to Keep Scotland Dependent. They already promote hatred against immigrants. It would be no big deal for them to co-operate wi Nigel Fascist’s Reform Nazis.
voting conservative is letting labour in, or something
maybe people up there just prefer the red lot?
SNP and Starmer’s Labour Party are hardly “the Left”.
I would hope the Conservatives have the sense to work with literally anyone else.
Good
They don’t seem to have noticed that Holyrood uses a proportional voting system. If there’s 30% of the vote for right-wing parties, it doesn’t matter much whether that’s 15% Reform – 15% Tory vs 30% Reform-Tory Alliance.
Alliances only (potentially) matter if one party completely dominates the constituency vote (Labour 1999/2003, SNP 2016/2021) because in that case list votes for that party mostly go straight in the bin.
Labour are “left wing?” That’s the biggest laugh I’ve had a long while, they are barely centre of the right these days, let alone left wing.
Don’t threaten me with a good time.
And this is a bad thing because…. 🤷
Tories good for policy?
What sort of delusional psychosis could someone be living in to think that’s true?
It will be interesting to see who will last longer Badenoch or Swinney. Probably Swinney. After all the conservatives have thrived on electoral reanimation.
The Tories can’t even work with the Tories, much less anyone else. Reform has a chairman who can’t even decide whether he wants to be chairman or not. A pact would be utter chaos.
I would vote for a left if there was any…
It really bothers me that the Telegraph and several ‘mainstream’ rags are running with Reform as if they’re not a gaggle of dangerous racists.
Fucking Reform. 2025 United Kingdom everybody.
It’s not about “ruling”. Its called “governing”.
Whoever leads the government is not some anointed monarch who sits on their fat arse living the good life. Its JOB and its not even permanent.
Don’t threaten me with a good time.
> the Tories can come up with the policies
Like the Scottish Tories’ policy of letting 14 year olds leave school? Genius stuff
