Maybe we could get a template complaint written uo, and start a petition against these sorts of demands. Might not make much diferrence, but its a start. People could also start protesting by witholding payments.
How is the answer to one failed private sector enterprise (in a raft of numerous successful private sector enterprises), to allow the amorphous blob of taxpayers, government bodies and the state to take ownership?
If we were forward thinking (Sweden, with its accretive SWF), or nimble (like the UAE’s decisiveness), or actually effective (like China’s well heeded autocracy), maybe we stand a chance.
But OP, likely without a world view, likely without economics knowledge, likely without experience, is attempting to do what our government and mass of public does en masse – throw around inane and poorly thought through suggestions with no hope of success!
Our government spends half the tax take on bad choices (interest payment) and handouts (welfare, going straight to pockets of individuals, rather than employment services, education, or health, which are paid for separately). The remaining half has huge waste with an endless list (a starter of this below).
What uneducated trumpeter (OP, looking at you), thinks that nationalisation in the UK context will help anyone?!?
FYI, a starter in government waste. Anyone who can read and count should be shocked, and not be calling for nationalisation, or more taxes, or more state control… but not everyone can read and count!
– £92B on HS2, of which apx £30B may be utilised
– £70B on covid furlough. Make your own mind up on how much was fraud / waste
– £20B on civil service; double what it was in 2016 (so arguably £10B wastage)
– £12B annually to house immigrants
– £10B wasted on NHS IT programme, with nothing to show
– £8B in PPE during covid
– £5B annually in Official Development Assistance (i.e. lawsuits, compensation and services for asylum seekers)
– £1.5B+ in disbanded warrior armoured vehicles / ISTAR and related military spending
– £1B+ in NHS bribery, corruption and fraud
– £100B+..from the publicly available list of almost 100+ items each between £0.1B – £1B of further waste
Outrage!
Nationalise by law, and don’t pay a penny for it, either. This company has done enough bad to deserve the corporate death penalty. This kind of thing will keep happening unless the investors lose all their money.
The government won’t have the balls to do it, though, and so the corporate leeches will continue leeching, and ordinary people will continue getting poorer

Okay chaps, look, it didn’t work with water… but trust me bro, with healthcare… bro it will totally work with healthcare.
A lot of water companies all over England and Europe use the same model. Only Thames water seems to be fucking up…
