Northern Ireland Flag Redesign (A flag for everyone to hate)

  1. Weird. Why the flag of one province, a third of which is in the territory represented by the Tricolour? Where are the other orivinces?

  2. You’re being sectarian, there’s more on it for the Irish to hate than the Brits. (/s in case it wasn’t obvious)

  3. Incoming Unionist fury as new flag of a United Ireland features green.

  4. Any ‘accurate’ flag of the 6 would be a fifth of a rectangle torn from the upper-right hand corner and promptly removed by the police if that segment depicts any semblance of Ireland

  5. Aye I ken it’s a bit of a daft mashup flag but honestly? I weirdly like it. Like, what if this was the future? What if someday Northern Ireland could move past the whole “us vs them” carry on and just be… better. Not perfect, not pretending the past wisnae brutal, but better. United by choice, not forced into anything, but defo not stuck in the same trenches forever either.

My ancestors were Ulster Scots. Proud, stubborn folk. But I dinnae believe they’d want their weans and grandweans still fighting the same fights 200 years later. We’ve all suffered. Catholic, Protestant, none o the above. Trauma doesn’t care what church yer grannie went tae.

So aye, this flag – it’s got the Red Hand, the tricolour, the cross – all smashed together like a late night kebab. But maybe that’s what healing looks like. Messy. Patchwork. But still standing.

It’s daft. It’s a joke but hey it’s clever. It’s got potential. Bit like us.

  6. I love it I can replace my plough flying on Easter week lol

  7. In all seriousness, regarding a flag for a United Ireland. I think one of the harp flags, green or blue, would be the best to use. They look cool and would be very unique compared to other countries using standard colours and stripe variants.
