Juneteenth celebration in Detroit honors historic Civil War camp

Campeau Park on Detroit’s east side is the home of Camp Ward, where Michigan’s only Black regiment trained during the Civil War. A Juneteenth celebration on Saturday aimed to educate people about the troop and their impact on history.
