I was banned from r/Edinburgh after saying "Israel is a genocidal ethno state, free Palestine" in response to a poster complaining that a stall raising money for Palestinian kids was supporting terrorists.
If voicing support for a people currently being genocided is classed as supporting terrorism then I think we have a serious problem for a Scottish rub Sub Reddit.

No surprise
I find the Scottish city subs to be a hotbed of the same sort of ignorant curtain twitching, badly misinformed quasi right wing folk that made me finally say goodbye to FB and taught me to never get involved with X/ Twitter.
Better off not getting involved in discussions on there.
And you’ll be lucky not to get banned for this.
For context I’m Irish and have been banned for my recent post in r/Ireland mentioning Rachel Corrie. They banned me for “threatening language” and removed the post.
I appealed it and someone unbanned me and reinstated the post.
The mods in that sub are infamous for bans. It’s one of Reddit’s huge drawbacks – it relies on the type of person who has enough of an interest and free time to volunteer to mod a sub, to mod a sub.
That’s very on-brand
There is a particular mod over there who is notorious for banning anyone who disagrees with them on anything.
It isn’t a left/right thing. Anti immigration comments will get you a ban as easily as something pro Palestine.
Reddit the home of [Removed] and blanket banning any opinions that differ ❤️❤️❤️
Reddit mods are the wild West. No oversight. Can do whatever they like.
Some gross both-sides-ing in this thread.
I got banned for breaking a rule. They told me I have broken rule x, but no such rule exists.
The mods there are really grade A twats.
I know it’s not related, but it seems like there’s a similar pattern in some of the Ireland related subs as well.
Never beating the allegations
I wasn’t surprised but I was just banned for supporting Palestinians in r/worldnews.
Zionists be Zionists.
Its all over Reddit. I was banned from WorldNews for calling the situation in Palestine a genocide.
I got my first formal warning for it too which im waiting to hear back from on my appeal.
There is a massive effort online to supress anyone speaking out against Israel to defend Palestine.
I suspect I’m about to be banned too. I’ve just messaged them.
Isreal is demonstrably and quantifiably a genocidal ethno state right now. Stating that does not make someone a terrorist and I’m sorry that you ended up banned by someone that does not have the mental capacity to work this out.
I would bet a lot of money that mod has also expressed strong personal opinions on the erosion of free speech in the UK.
…for me but not for thee
u/Big_Papa_Bear_UK we are living in a wee skewed times, aren’t we. ugly as hell what has been done back in October and equally, if not way more, ugly as hell that innocent civilians keep getting killed indiscriminately and pointing that out draws the ire of the mods
Amazingly, I was banned from r/Edinburgh for pointing out that BAE make equipment for our own armed forces (in a post that suggested shutting them down for selling to Israel).
I don’t think the mods are right or left, I just think they are absolutely nuts.
I got banned for telling anti maskers to fuck off mid-pandemic because “I wasn’t the arbiter of science”, despite me having a PhD in colloid filtration
I was banned from there for recommending using the ferryToll park and ride for parking your car there and then using the airport bus to get to the airport.
Apparently that has nowt to do with Edinburgh.
Or maybe it was a comment about the Dalry cemetery plonker who bought one of the gate houses there and the proceeded to try stopping people walking near his/her house as they walked into the cemetery. Last message i saw was that he/she was taking someone to court.
Good times.
Umm…
Israel *IS* a genocidal ethno state.
The leader of Hamas was seen going into his underground cave with his wife whose wearing a Hermes handbag worth thousands. The intention to raise money for kids in Gaza is correct but huge amounts are legitimately being taken by Hamas.
The sub doesn’t have a “right wing mod problem”. That’s an absolutely ridiculous statement to make. Name any other wedge issue in politics and they’ll come down heavily on the progressive side.
R/Edinburgh _does_ have cliquey, power-trippey mods who delete anything that upsets their wee circle of pals.
I was perma banned earlier today because of a ban evasion filter. I honestly don’t know why so I’ve asked the mods for more info.

Mods on that group are honestly the biggest cunts I’ve come across on Reddit. I got banned for this comment when someone asked for a menu taster restaurant. Told them there must be some sort of mistake and they just ignored and muted me.
Weird, power-tripped nonces
There are some debates it is generally a bad idea to engage in at all – trans, Israel/Palestine being two of them. They are filled with people who simply want to ban anyone who shows any hint of questioning. The irony of what that equates to politically is deep.
Here here, it’s not the People of Palestine who are terrorists. How much is this world gonna take before someone is brought to justice for ethnic cleansing via genocide. I personally don’t hold any hope of this as long as USA is in they’re pocket with Congress. He knows this that’s why he orders murders of incocate people. Ban me I dinna care a F
I was banned for saying there are too many private schools in Edinburgh haha
I’m banned from there and I *think* it’s because I mentioned that I found a specific member of staff in a specific shop a bit creepy, without naming names
I HATE that mods are shitty, then MUTE YOU for asking!
It’s the most infuriating shit reddit ever does, and there should be a button to report mods who use that as a silencing tactic. Those mods should be perma-banned for being assholes.
I got a ban from r/Edinburgh for this comment last month on a thread about burger restaurants.
“I’ve ordered takeaway burgers over the phone with them before. Just had to pick them up in person about 20 mins later. Though, if I’m in the mood for takeaway, I’m usually feeling lazy enough that I want someone to bring it right to my door.”
I assumed it was a mistake, so I messaged a mod asking why. Got muted and permabanned. Absolute clown show over there.
Happens all across Reddit
I was banned from r/uk for saying Israel is a faux state
Plenty of Zionists on the same post calling Palestinians sub human and boasting about how all of Palestine will be theirs, laughing at genocide ect
None of them were banned
I was banned for posting a missing dog. Fuck the mods.
Their cunts I got banned for a comment I made here ffs, shower of petty fuckers on that sub.
