  1. Imagine sitting on roof at shitty AA gun, seeing every military compound in the vicinity going up in flames.

  2. Goddam I remember watching this, there was some sort of ultimatum if I remember right, and at midnight they started. All the news channels had it on live. Very strange time looking back on it.

  3. pootin turned on the west due to this war, what monumental stupidity in all respects

  4. I’m surprised the power didn’t get cut off from all of that.

One lightning strike in my town and we’re down for hours.

  5. F-117s were working above Baghdad. These explosions are likely from their payload. One of them targeted Saddam’s house, but he was already hustled away.

  6. I remember watching this with my dad. That and the toppling of saddam statue were pretty neat to see at the time.

  7. What’s awesome is some of those bombs were delivered from planes that took off 20 hours before dropping their bombs.

  8. You see Vlad, it’s “shock and awe”, you did “cyka aww”.

  9. I remember staying up all night riding with some live newscast of the tanks rolling into Iraq. It was wild.

  10. Bagdad Bob was absolutely hilarious back in those days…

  11. I was in the Missile Warning Center of the Korean Air Ops Center in Osan, “watching” it live via satellite IR explosion reporting.

  12. Great footage but hate how they “sync” the sound of explosions to the visual when they are clearly miles away.

  13. I remember Powell’s speech at the UN holding a sample of pee and passing it off for a bio weapon, we never learn from our mistakes do we

  14. I remember me and a coworker/roommate at the time would always be stoked to come home after work to “watch the war”. Seems kinda fucked up now in hindsight.

  15. Russia tried this three years ago in Ukraine, and so far have nearly 1 million casualties.

  16. My 16th birthday. My buddy and I share the same birthday and we just watched the news all night.

  17. So many cheered for this back then. Some probably still do.

  18. Just imagine all the pain and suffering that would follow over the next, what? 15 years? Not that it is completely over even now. And imagine the money spent fighting this fucking war. Just breathtaking.

And why was all this necessary? No one really knows. The people in charge just felt like it was the right thing to do, at the time.

  19. I remember the media hyping this all up so much. I was like 13, so I was so excited to get to see some real war on T.V. I tuned into Fox news/CNN nightly for a while to watch more footage of this and the invasion. We were finally getting the bad guys and those WMD’s!

Boy was I one gullible kid.

Now all I see id wasted lives and suffering. Sad.
